Anxiety
Anxiety is a natural human reaction that serves an important basic survival function. As long as it isn’t excessive, it is healthy to feel anxious sometimes. Generalized Anxiety Disorder or GAD is characterized by extreme, exaggerated worry about everyday life events. Daily life becomes a constant state of unease, fear and dread. This type of disorder can be diagnosed and treated by a therapist or mental health professional to help the person get relief.
Symptoms of anxiety include:excessive worry, unrealistic view of problems, restlessness, irritability, muscle tension, headaches, sweating, nausea and sleep deprivation.
-
Depression
Everyone has some ups and downs, and sadness is a natural emotion. Depression is more than occasionally feeling blue, sad, or down in the dumps, though. Depression is a strong mood involving sadness, despair, or hopelessness that lasts for an extended period of time. The good news about depression is that it is one of the most treatable conditions. In fact, about 80% of people who get help for their depression feel better and enjoy themselves in ways that they weren’t able to before.
Symptoms of depression include:extended sadness, lack of energy, inability to enjoy things that used to bring pleasure, withdrawal from friends and family, irritability, significant weight loss or gain, significant change in sleep patterns, feelings of worthlessness, aches and pains, pessimism, indifference and thoughts of death or suicide.
-
Teens
Rebellion occurs in all teenagers; but not all teenagers rebel the same way. Rebellion can either be constructive or it can be destructive. Remember there is purpose in rebellion. Some of the most important lessons your child will learn in life will come from the lessons learned from their rebellious behaviors in their teens. The key is to determine whether that rebellion is constructive or destructive.
Symptoms of destructive rebellion include: drug use, ignoring rules, breaking curfew, skipping school, entitlement and promiscuity.
-
Couples
All marriages go through growing pains and difficulties. However, sometimes couples get stuck, going in circles trying to resolve past problems but never really getting anywhere. If this is the case, having a third party to help navigate you through these issues can be essential to saving your marriage from destructive patterns.

Screen Addiction
By far one of the fastest growing addictions in our culture today is screen and gaming addiction. This behavioral addiction is one of the most difficult behaviors for parents to grab control of because technology is so ingrained in our society. Helping your child create boundaries and find balance can be challenging, but is essential to overcoming unhealthy screen dependence.
Symptoms of screen addiction include: excessive screen use, sleep deprivation, neglect of basic drives and duties, social isolation, decline in academic performance, dishonesty, denial, increase in stress and social anxiety.

Athletes
Anyone who has played a competitive sport knows that athletic performance is as equally mental as it is physical. Most athletes spend hours preparing physically for game time performance, but sometimes neglect to develop their mental game. It is the mental game that takes athletes from good to great, and great to excellent. Sports psychology can help athletes maximize their potential, as well as overcome any mental barriers they may face.
We worked with several NFL players and NCAA Division I athletes helping them overcome injuries, mental blocks and getting the most out of their talent.
